My earliest memory of rugs, goes back to when I used to drive my toy car, on our rugs wide borders, pretending it, to be a speed lane. My family had been in the business of fine rugs for many years ago, but as a teenager, growing up in Tehran, I never thought that will become the focus of my business life.

I started out as a rug washer in my cousin’s ORIENTAL RUG STORE, in Millburn, New Jersey. I used to spend lots of time in the store, even after my job was done. My ability to speak English comfortably allowed to me to serve customers, and soon after, my cousin promoted me to sales.

After the Iranian Revolution, my family joined me here, and we opened our first rug store in Stamford, Connecticut.

So you could say that I started in this business thirty years ago, from the bottom up!
I have always been fascinated by old handmade rugs, specially the geometric Village rugs, and when I opened Fovama, I focused on selling unique old rugs.

The primary goal for me in this site is to present to you some of the most unique rugs in the world. mostly village rugs of geometric designs, with vegetable dyes. The selection of rugs that I showcase on this site are representative of the many fine designs we offer at Fovama – and indeed if you’ve fallen in love with a specific rug you’ve seen here, I encourage you to give me a call!

I also welcome special requests, specific sizes, and colors that you might need. I will be glad to answer any questions you have about rugs you need or already have. If you are not sure about the size you need for certain rooms, or how you can mix colors and design between your fabrics and rugs or wallpaper, we can also help you with that.

I will be pleased to estimate repairs on the rugs you have. You can send me photos, or a description of a certain stain problem on your existing rugs.Technical questions about certain designs, weave, construction of the rug, or age and pedigree are welcome as well.
